ITC
Bridgeport Road is an eclectic commercial corridor spanning between No. 6 Road to the east and the Fraser River to the west. The concept for The International Trade Centre (ITC) was to create a micro-community that embodied the commercial diversity of the local neighbourhood, combining employment, hospitality, and retail uses within a singular development. The triangular geometry of the site dictated the building massing; three mid-rise forms unified by a podium base. A 100-room luxury hotel anchors the Southeast corner of the site, characterised by a linear punched south façade to regulate solar exposure during the summer months. Two office buildings provide a counterbalance on the west edge of the site, sharing a large centralised outdoor amenity area on the podium roof. A high flood plain resulted in all parking and service spaces to be located above grade within the podium base. These parking levels were visually screened from the street through the application of large Ombrae aluminium panels, depicting ‘wakes and contrails’ imagery influenced by the local airport and Fraser River.
