Paul Goodwin

Principal

Paul Goodwin has an Architecture degree from the university of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, graduating with distinction in 1992.  He has worked in offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town, London, and Vancouver and joined GBL Architects in 1997.  Paul acts as a managing partner of GBL Architects and is responsible for running daily operations of a 70-person architectural studio.

Paul has 27 years of local experience and during those years worked on a wide range of projects from small-scale residential buildings, complex multi-phase mixed-used projects, to Master Planned Communities.  He has consistently fulfilled many aspects of his role as a professional, being responsible for design, design development, construction drawing overview, and contract administration 

Recently, Paul acted as lead Architect for the first phase of a large Master Planned Community at the City of Lougheed in Burnaby.  The project is comprised of 1.5 million SF of residential area, housed within four towers ranging in height from 29-storeys to 58-storeys. Paul is currently principal in charge of two 50-storey towers in Metrotown (“Nuvo” and “The Standard”) and three other towers close to Metrotown.

Paul is a LEED Accredited Professional and is fully versed in the certification process though his experience with LEED accredited builders over the last 10+ years.  Paul is also active in professional organizations; he has served on the AIBC Oral Review Board, the New Westminster Design Panel and has acted as Vice Chair for the Richmond Design Panel.
